DONALD TRUMP ATTACKS 'MINI MIKE' BLOOMBERG IN TWITTER TIRADE, SAYS 2020 CANDIDATE IS 'JUST WASTING HIS MONEY'
President Donald Trump attacked Michael Bloomberg in a series of tweets in the early hours on Sunday, referring to the presidential candidate as "Mini Mike" and accusing him of trying to "rig" the Democratic Party presidential primaries.
Trump claimed Bloomberg was "going nowhere" and "just wasting his money" as he lashed out at his rival following the revelation that the billionaire spent more than $200 million of his own money in the two months after his late entry into the race into the presidential race, according to The New York Times.
The revelation appeared to prompt Trump to target Bloomberg on Twitter, accusing him of using his vast fortune to pay for attack ads and claiming he was "getting the DNC to rig the election" against Bernie Sanders.
"Many of the ads you are watching were paid for by Mini Mike Bloomberg. He is going nowhere, just wasting his money, but he is getting the DNC to rig the election against Crazy Bernie, something they wouldn't do for @CoryBooker and others. They are doing it to Bernie again, 2016," Trump wrote in one tweet.
In another, he added, "Mini Mike is part of the Fake News. They are all working together. In fact, Bloomberg isn't covering himself (too boring to do), or other Dems. Only Trump. That sounds fair! It's all the Fake News Media, and that's why nobody believes in them any more."
In another dig at Bloomberg's height, Trump also claimed the former New York City mayor was trying to ensure he could stand on a box during debates.
"Mini Mike is now negotiating both to get on the Democrat Primary debate stage, and to have the right to stand on boxes, or a lift, during the debates. This is sometimes done, but really not fair!" Trump wrote.
Bloomberg's disclosure to the Federal Election Commission reveals his campaign spent $132 million on TV ads, $8.1 million on online ads and $3.3 million on polling, the Associated Press reported.
According to Reuters, Bloomberg has already far outspent Trump, whose campaign has reported spending about $148 million since the president launched his reelection in January 2017. On Sunday night, Bloomberg and Trump will face off in ads airing during the Super Bowl.
