Do you know that former First Lady Michelle Obama is also a panda fan? In March 2014, Mrs. Obama took her family to the Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Research Base, where she learned about the important work the Base does. She also reflected on the important role panda plays in U.S.-China relations.
During President Xi's visit to the United States in 2015, First Lady Obama invited Chinese First Lady Peng Liyuan to the Smithsonian’s National Zoo, to celebrate the more than 40 years of scientific cooperation between the United States and China in panda conservation.
